Lost a Dog?

Pet FBI      Missing Pet Network     The Internet Lost and Found      Stolen pets

  • Search your house and yard/acreage on the chance that they have become trapped, are sick or injured.
  • Contact animal control and animal shelters in your county and surrounding counties. GSPs can travel far in a short time. Visit them on a daily basis . GSPs are often mislabeled as mixes or another breed. We stress that you should not assume that because you have left information about your missing pet- you will automatically be contacted if your dog is turned in. Too many unwanted animals and too few shelter volunteers to do this. It is up to you to check back regularly. Some shelters do NOT check for microchips.
  • Put up flyers in your neighborhood, vet offices, include emergency vets, grocery stores, pet stores, and anyplace else you can think of.
  • Place an lost ad in newspapers and the free flyers.
  • Check internet lost and found sites.
  • Check with breed rescue in your area. Send them a couple clear pictures of different angles with a good description and good contact info.
  • Look on www.Petfinder.org

Be leery of "pet-finding" services that contact you and offer to help find your pet for a fee! Do not meet people in out-of-the-way places and do not hand over any money unless you have your pet in hand.

*Keep current ID on you pets. Microchip your dogs and send in the registration.
